About

Dr Kenneth Taylor is a social scientist whose research interests center on the issues raised by developments in biological sciences for both policymakers and the people whose lives could be affected.  Ken worked with Dr Simon Woods on ‘Responsible Innovation’ in synthetic biology. This involved engaging in both empirical and conceptual research; exploring the implications of the ‘Portabolomics’ concept for developments in research and industrial application.

Since leaving Portabolomics, Ken has been involved in work in the PEALS Research Centre, completing a number of short projects and developing funding bids.  He recently left the University when his funding ended, though as a visiting researcher he will see PhD candidate Natalie Partridge through to her thesis submission.  He will also complete writing up the work done on public engagement activities relating to synthetic biology that were supported by Portabolomics, RCUK impact accelerator funds and Newcastle University’s Institute of Social Science.
