ICOS Devonshire Labs, Pathway to Impact Strand 2: Translation and Exploitation
Lucy is a research associate in the Interdisciplinary Computing and Complex Biosystems group in the School of Computing. She is based in the ICOS labs in the Devonshire building. She joined the Portabolomics project in September 2020. Her work focuses on lab automation and sequencing, in particular RNA sequencing to assess bacteria’s responses to different stress conditions. She previously worked on the NUFEB project, using sequencing and microfluidics to look at complex microbial communities.
Lucy obtained her PhD in Environmental Engineering, from Newcastle University looking at methods for the study of microbial ecology in Waste Stabilization Pond systems. Previous to this Lucy studied for a Masters in Environmental Engineering at Newcastle University and an undergraduate degree in Zoology from Durham University (St. Chad’s College).
