AIMday AI for Biotechnology
The Portabolomics group together with the Interdisciplinary Computing and Complex Biosystems (ICOS) research group and the Centre for Synthetic Biology and the Bioeconomy (CSBB) is organising the AIMday AI for Biotechnology on 27th of June 2019 at Newcastle University to discuss specific industry challenges related to the development and adoption of AI technologies for enhanced decision making in Biotechnology.
How it works:
Academic Industry Meeting day, or AIMday™, is centred around focused workshops that address key technology questions put forth by industry. The questions are submitted around a central theme (in this case AI for Biotechnology) which is then discussed and brainstormed jointly between industry participants and academics thus leveraging multidisciplinary expertise from across the University.
Thus:
- Each question or challenge on the topic of AI in Biotechnology submitted by a company is tackled by a group of academics, with the aim of finding a pathway to a solution.
- The AIMday™ workshop format is unique, tried-and-tested: One question, One hour, One group of academic experts tackling it.
To register for the AIMday event as industry/other organisation, at least one question needs to be submitted in advance of the meeting.

The academic mixture that will be available at the AIM day has world leading expertise in the areas Computing Science, AI, Data analytics, Data Mining, Computational Modeling, Synthetic Biology, Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Molecular Microbiology and Responsible Innovation.
With this AIM day we seek to help companies improve their product performance, reduce failure, optimise workflows and consider more innovative approaches to their core business with the help of academic expertise in AI and biotechnology.
Registration for companies is now open and will close on Thursday 05th May 2019 at 12 midnight.
Registration for academic scientists will open Saturday 06th May 2019 12 noon and closes Thursday 19th June 2019 at 12 midnight.
